Dems are not opposing chain migration. They want chain migration to stay that is their voting block. They are more concerned about decrease in chain migration of hispanics and other low skilled immigrants. They are more reliable dem voters.

Dems not approving & every other senator is bringing up their own amendments,  doesn't seems to work in anyone favor anytime soon. I wish he really introduce merit based bill but I don't see its going to happen anytime soon. They need 60 votes to make legislation and create a law and there is not even half votes for any bill.

Security issues kanna bigger issue is that most of those immigrants will be dependent on state benefits to survive, Social Security system is already quite depleted. Chain migration is putting more pressure on it.
