MP horror: Class 11 girl beheaded outside school, 1 suspect detained, another found hanging from tree

A 17-year-old girl was beheaded with a sword by an unidentified man outside her school on Thursday. She was a student of class 11 of the Government Senior Secondary Girls School in Kotma, Anuppur district Madhya Pradesh,

The victim identified as Pooja Panika was a science student and was killed about 300 meters from her school.

 

The parents of the girl have named Dalip Sahu, a known offender of the area as a suspect. Sahu according to the parents was stalking their daughter and a complaint to this effect was lodged by them against him in 2014.

According to the police, Sahu has been detained and is being interrogated.

"We have detained Sahu and are questioning him but early morning today the investigators found a new twist as another boy was found hanging to a tree in village Pakia," police said.

The boy found hanging to a tree has been identified as 24-year-old Vijay Prajapti and a letter has been recovered from him. Police are not disclosing the contents of the letter but are claiming that he was in touch with the victim.

According to an eyewitness, the victim was attacked by the unknown assailant minutes after she stepped out of the school on Thursday. The girl was attacked on the back and neck with a sword and before anyone could come to her rescue her head was severed and she was dead.

The assailant fled from the spot leaving the sword behind.

Police have seized the sword and registered a murder case against the unidentified assailant.

The incident that happened in broad day light has terrorized the students of the school and residents of the area who are demanding immediate arrest of the accused.

"Anuppur Superintendent of police Sunil Jain is camping in Kotma and is monitoring the investigations. Hopefully we will crack it soon," a member of the investigating team said.
