Question..can we compare with other persons sal joined in the same Dept got more offer than what was offered to us ?

Last 3 yrs Dept has standard offering say $115 k..but recently if they offer less than standard ?? Is it ok to show them as examples ?? Recently new VP is downgrading sal..

Bottom line how to get competitive sal with professional negotiation..

valla salary neekela thelusu ani adugutharu...and comparing your self with others who joined before you is not a professional way of negotiation

they will say that they are offering as per the market at the time of joining

Ok me to felt same way..kaani ee idoit is offering close to 10 k less..3 yrs ki sal increase avvali kaani decrease avvoddu..reason giving we offered more sal that time now we are correcting..and management is so stubborn..if we decline not sure how it will effect ur contract..

Do you know any cases where this strategy back fired?

When an employee is not happy the total compensation, they will definetely look around. No topic of loyalty. If the mgr/company thinks its worth matching the offer, they will do. Else its employee wish to switch or stay..

So,  you didn't read the article. It is created based on the facts and interviews from managers. Why no topic of loyalty? Think from manager's stand point. Not from engineer's stand point.

lol..you assumed people will quit when there is no raise. Not everyone has that intention and liberty. People disappoint but they don't want to quit. So what do they do. Definitely dont play the game and take the risk you mentioned. There are many other ways to get the hike without risking job.

We are talking about salary hike here, not total compensation. There is huge difference between the two. Dont mix both.

Lol. Nobody is forcing anyone to risk. Its upto an individual.

I just mentioned a strategy which worked for few friends..

if u think following ur methodology is working for u, just continue following it. No issues.. thats what i am doing too.

i have no methodology. I provided what facts and research says. You are the one who told some strategy that doesnt work for everyone. So someone has to tell the risks involved. Thats exactly what i did. If there are any risks with what i said, you are welcome to post those.

Do u believe managers going to give good hike or promotion just by us telling what all great work we did?

did i ever say that? That is one of the many many methods people follow as per article. It works for some and may not work for others. Doesnt mean it is the only way. Read the articles i posted dude. It has 10 ways of asking raise with no risks.
