Gaali_Gottam_Govinda Posted March 17, 2018 Report Posted March 17, 2018 BJP general secretary Ram Madhav on Saturday said the party will pass a resolution to directly reach out to the people of Andhra Pradesh on the issue of special category status for the state. Speaking to reporters after a meeting with BJP president Amit Shah and the party's Andhra unit, Madhav asserted that the NDA government is committed to the development of Andhra Pradesh and is willing to offer perks over and beyond the long-standing promise of special status. "We will pass a resolution in which we will explain to the people of Andhra Pradesh our stand on the issue said by Andhra CM. We're as much committed to the people as him (Chandrababu Naidu). We have done so much in the last 4 years," Madhav told news agency ANI. We will explain to the people of Andhra Pradesh the things we have done for them in last 4 years and things we will do. We are ready to do more than the special status," he avvered. The BJP leader's placatory remarks come a day after the TDP ended its four-year-old alliance with the saffron party and walked out of the NDA, a week after two of its Union ministers resigned over the Centre's refusal to grant Special Category Status (SCS) to Andhra Pradesh. The TDP and the YSR Congress, the two main parties in Andhra, moved a no-confidence motion against the Modi government in the Lok Sabha yesterday, which was backed by MPs belonging to Congress and the Left. When reporters enquired if the TDP will return to the NDA fold, Madhav demurred and said: "You will have to ask them first." In a letter to BJP chief Amit Shah, TDP president N Chandrababu Naidu said they felt it pointless to continue in the NDA as the union government had failed to discharge its constitutional responsibilities in implementing the AP Reorganisation Act.
