I have seen few cases of non Indians who were on OPT and directly applied GC and got it before OPT expired. 

But probably not possible scenario for Indians. If you have employer who is ready to do that , then that is good.

Me too man, I don't want to ever settle down permanently in India. All said and done, the life in US is a huge upgrade to what I can afford in the current situation in India. Plus most of the Indian cities will be running out of water very soon, it's an ecological disaster waiting to happen.
