Damning video footage had emerged in which Bancroft appeared to be using an external object while trying to shine the ball. Bancroft confessed that he had used a yellow sticky tape to collect soil granules and rubbed it against the surface of the ball, as Australia viewed it as a 'possible way of getting an advantage' in a closely-fought series, currently tied 1-1.
