Hyderabad, March 25: On the occasion of Ram Navami, the Sri Sitharamachandra Swamy Temple at Bhadrachalam is setting the perfect example of communal harmony on March 25, Sunday. It is believed that long time back, Hyderabad State’s Muslim rulers set a tradition of presenting tributes and gifts to the temple to mark the Ram Navami festival. Till this date, the government makes an offering of ‘mutyala talambralu’ (sacred rice mixed with pearls, saffron and turmeric) and ‘pattu vastralu’ every Ram Navami at the temple. The tradition of offering gifts by the state was started during the Qutb Shahi period and this was continued by Asaf Jahis, as told by historian Mohammad Safiullah. This heritage of passing down gifts has been kept alive by governments after Independence too. According to Saifullah, the temple at Bhadrachalam was built by Kancharla Gopanna, who was the nephew of Akkanna and Madanna- senior officials in the court of Qutb Shahi king Abul Hasan Tana Shah between 1672 and 1687.

No that 'was' and 'is' the case.

Contrary to the stories that project Moghuls as invincible conquerors, there was a lot of resistance from the native Hindu subjects, so much so that  most of the time, they were incontrollable. Virtually only a few years during Akbar's rule was Indian sub-continent by and large at peace.

Rest other times especially Babur's, ShahJahan's and Aurangazeb's there was a wide spread resistance and there by violence.

Some rulers like Nizams of Hyderabad, Nawabs of Bengal and Awadh came to the terms with their Hindu subjects so as to ward off rebellion.

But the core principle of Islam remains/remained the same -- Idolatry is haram.

Yes, Rebellion was much stronger than that projected by Congressi written History. At one point in time, Humayun was ousted from Delhi and he had to take refuge. Aurangazeb, as we know, was the real re-incarnation of Mohammad. The Communit-Congressi written Indian History painted a glory picture of Moghul Rule - that all Indians were happy and surrendered to their tolerant rule and because of that 20% of its population have been converted to Islam, by their own willing.

Yes, sometimes political, sometimes tactical, sometimes carrot & Stick approach and finally violence at the end.

Kaani paamulu pattevaadu paamu kaatuke chasthaadu annattu aiindhi Moghul/Islamic rule in India.

They were wiped out by the same violence.

Aurangazeb killed the Sikh Guru.

Aurangazeb destroyed the re-built Somnath Temple.

Aurangazeb destroyed thousands of Temples across North India, leaving Kasi Viswanath, as he could not demolish the whole City during his life -time.

Thats the reason why Northies do not have any significant historical temples and traditions as many a you find in every part of South India.

More than temples i think the destruction  of knowledge which was far worse.  Great universities Nalanda and Takshshila.

Khilji decided to destroy the roots of knowledge, Buddhism and Ayurveda, from the country. He set fire to the great library of Nalanda and burned down nearly 9 million manuscripts.

The library was so vast and strong that it took three months to completely destroy it. The Turkish invaders also murdered monks and scholars in the university.
