There was long lasting wish from lingayat community to be separate religion where karnataka cabinet approved it , so thats the bottom line

Congress was a communal party in the 40s, 50s, even until the 80s. that's why it was voted into power over and over. But now BJP is the clear communal party, and that's why it has the support of middle class in India. India votes for Hindu supremacy subconsiously, and sometimes overtly. emi cheyyalemu. That is India. secular ani sollu is to just maintain veneer of decency for international PR.

Main thing is, BJP is full of idiots. Just mock them and enjoy the circus.

Karnataka is one state that had the greatest windfall from GST (apart from TG), and have made great strides in HDI in the past 5yrs. If people want more of the same, they will vote Congress. 

Even if they vote BJP, the state is not going to be affected much. So it doesn't matter really.
