Vijayawada: Hyperloop Transportation Technologies (HTT) on Monday proposed to set up the Hyperloop transportation system in Andhra Pradesh connecting Anantapur-Amaravati-Vijayawada and Visakhapatnam as part of 700-800-km-long integrated public transit system.

The US-based company presented the pre-feasibility route study to officials from the State Capital Region Development Authority (APCRDA) and other nodal State departments.

HyperloopTT (HTT) has associated with Aarvee Associates of Hyderabad to prepare the pre-feasibility and feasibility studies, the company said in a statement. The entire Hyperloop project is conceived to be implemented in three phases.

In Phase I&II, a commercial Hyperloop system between Amaravati and Vijayawada will be built. In Phase III, a commercial Hyperloop System covering either northern or southern section of the vision corridor connecting Anantapur-Amaravati-Vijayawada and Visakhapatnam will be built. Phase II & III are interchangeable and can be implemented at the same time.

The Phase I alignment will be located in either Amaravati or in Vijayawada city running East-West on a 5-10 km straight section to showcase the benefits of the system to the stakeholders and general public.

HTT has also proposed setting up a manufacturing complex that will focus on several aspects of the Hyperloop TT project, such as building the tube, capsule, the track and 3D printing.

The HyperloopTT team was represented by Bibop Gresta, chairman and co-founder, HyperloopTT, Joel Michael, India Head, HyperloopTT and Sabih Khisaf, Head of Engineering (middle East & North Africa), Hyperloop TT.

Gresta said that Hyperloop TT system is an emerging form of ultra-high-speed ground transportation system that moves people and freight. “By undertaking this project, Andhra Pradesh and India would signal their desire to create a globally competitive region fuelled by ultra-high-speed mobility that is environment positive, energy efficient and sustainable,” he said.

Ajay Jain, Principal Secretary, Energy Infrastructure and Investment, said that there is a need for sustainable high quality robust mass transportation system for proposed capital city of Amaravati, which would house 3.5 million people and create 1.5 million jobs. The plan also proposes 9 theme-based cities within the capital city to serve as the hub of activities serving unique functions and employment generation along with complementary functions.

There are multiple different companies working on it. This is one of them.

In September 2017, HTT announced and signed an agreement with the Andhra Pradesh government to build a track from Amaravathi to Vijayawada in a public-private partnership, and suggested that the more than one hour trip could be reduced to 5 minutes through the project.[93][94] For yet undisclosed reason, neither the test track that HTT announced in May 2015 nor any other test track has been built in the last 3 years.

This is the trick in the name of Hyperloop.

These companies conduct feasibility studies only and charge govt consulting fees which usually runs into 10's of crores. Incidently it seems one of them is related to Hyperloop.

This feasibility study is literally useless and wasting of public money

Virgin to build super-fast Hyperloop shuttle between Pune and Mumbai as India ramps up infrastructure spending

Sir Richard Branson likens possible impact of project to revolutionary introduction of steam trains in 20th century

Sir Richard Branson’s Virgin Hyperloop One venture has announced a preliminary agreement with the Indian state ofMaharashtra to build a super-fast rail network between the cities of Pune and Mumbai.

Sir Richard's futuristic tube shuttle project, capable of travelling at speeds of 240mph, will deliver passengers from Pune’s city centre to Navi Mumbai international airport in 25 minutes, shaving three hours from the current journey time and connecting 26 million people in the process.

Once completed, the Hyperloop will make 150 million passenger trips every year, saving more than 90 million hours currently lost to the commute, the company said.

It also hopes to play a major role in logistics, ferrying freight and light cargo to the Jawaharlal Nehru Port of Mumbai for international distribution.

A fully operational demonstration track will be built over a two to three year period following the signing of the final agreement, with the second phase of construction due for completion in five to seven years.

The total estimated cost of the project has yet to be established but a feasibility study now underway will be used to determine the structure of any subsequent public-private partnership entered into.

Virgin Hyperloop One estimates it will bring 3.5 trillion rupees (£39bn) in socioeconomic benefits to the region over three decades of operation, incorporating factors like time-saving, operational costs, emissions and accident reduction into its calculation.

The line itself will be 100 per cent electric, which – coupled with its expected easing of motorway congestion – could reducegreenhouse gas emissions along its route by as much as 150,000 tonnes per year.

“I believe Virgin Hyperloop One could have the same impact upon India in the 21st century as trains did in the 20th century,” said Sir Richard. “Virgin Hyperloop One can help India become a global transportation pioneer and forge a new world-changing industry.”

Maharashtra’s chief minister Devendra Fadnavis said the Pune-Mumbai Hyperloop would serve as, “an economic catalyst for the region and create tens of thousands of jobs for India’s world-class manufacturing, construction, service and IT sectors”.

India’s Prime Minister Narendra Modi, also present at the signing of the agreement, congratulated the state on its ambitious undertaking, saying: “51 per cent of total investments in India have come to Maharashtra and the state is attracting global investors.

“The state’s overall development in the past few years is a shining example of change thinking and improving conditions in the country … It is on its way to achieving its bold vision of a trillion dollar economy.”
