Will be staying in Big Island from the 15th to the 22nd of this month.  Will be staying in Kailua-Kona which is on the opposite side of the island where the volcano is currently active.

Flights are still operational to this island. I will try and take one of the many helicopter volcano viewing tours that fly right over the volcano. I gather that the government has advised the tour operators to maintain a slightly higher altitude than normal given the current active status of the volcano.
