If there has been a balance in girls availability vs number of boys there will be some choice to make and people can become saner and live with self respect.

Add to that a society that's outright against men and women dating and indulging in social friendships, this creates a scenario where the men would consider just finding a partner his ultimate purpose in life esp when he's younger and so designs his life around her. 

This isn't limited to Telugu men who married Telugu women alone btw, I have a friend that married a Mallu. It's been 5 years now since he got married and he just disappeared off the face of the planet after that. The one time he met us, he told us that his wife wears the pants in the relationship. 

I have seen this to be less of an issue with people from more cosmopolitan cities like Mumbai and Delhi though

Yes it happens and it is common. Men become submissive because they are lazy. Women works hard or does show off to make him feel that he is dependent on her. Its all selfishness of men they dont have balls or identity. For some that is because their in-laws are powerful for others becoz their wives are beautiful and they fear little less attention will make her choose other options. Chala untayi bro, pelli ayyaka men will become very selfish and try to project himself as true men by hardwork and earning money and in that process loses friends and family. perfect harmony means each doing their own thing, while being totally comfortable with each other.

It may not exist for long, but it will exist between long periods where nothing happens, and it will be much more glorious than anything most casual sollu friends could offer. especially if your partner shares your interests.
