Marrying any near by cousins should be treated as blasphemy. When I started interacting with people from North India, I did not find anything wrong with bava maradallu concept, even though they ridiculed it because it was ingrained in my mind as a common thing. You were forced think that is correct unless you interact with people with another perspective.

Atleast Indian government should outlaw any marriage between 1st generation cousins and relatives.
