oh ok...but looks like its a long term plan. center encourage chestondi kada ani manodu oka step munduku esi charging ports kuda pedatham ani statement ichuntadu.

btw, india lo electric cars vaste, it will be a big thing. but politicians swaartham kosam reliance lantollaki kommu kaaste emi cheyyalemu.

Reality check : FAME India ani union policy for electric cars and hybrid cars vachindi. This is to lapse in 2018 and will be replace by FAME-2 regulations and aim is to faster adopt electric vehicles usage by 2030, thus by encouraging setting up of such industries and providing incentives. 

Recently, NItin Gadkari announced they are coming up with framework and policy for electric vehicles. Understanding the complexity involved in approach to adopting electric vehicles and challenges with infra, the ministry dropped the policy framework . 

Three rounds of talks have been held with automakers but big challenge of providing charging infrastructure needs to work out. As an approach to solve this issue. Govt proposes to set up charging stations at existing fuel stations to be powered by solar panels but this is only a limited approach as it faces a challenge of not catering to huge numbers also the expense used to build such charging networks through out the country.

This is the present situation of FAME India. 

I have no idea where the AP Policy stands....definitely futuristic but who needs spaceship future in medival world ?

HMR to be first Metro in India to provide EV charging stations

 

Hyderabad: Hyderabad Metro Rail will become the first metro in the country to provide electric vehicle charging stations. To promote electric vehicles, L&T Metro Rail (Hyderabad) Limited has inked a pact with Power Grid Corporation of India Limited to facilitate provision of electric vehicle charging stations at Metro stations.

To begin with, Power Grid will provide charging stations at Miyapur and Balanagar Metro Stations. Following this, it will subsequently provide similar electric vehicle charging stations across the entire Metro corridors.

 

This is a first-of-its-kind initiative to promote electric vehicles (EVs). Further, with Vehicle to Grid (V2G) concept, EVs can also help in stabilisation of grid. With this adoption of EV, the per capita electricity consumption would improve substantially.

In an effort to reduce the carbon footprint, LTMRHL signed the contract with Power Grid to promote these electric vehicle charging stations for first and last mile connectivity at Metro stations.

LTMRHL Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer KVB Reddy in a statement said, “We are committed to provide best-in-class eco-friendly green Metro services to citizens of Hyderabad and this is a step in that direction.”

The running cost is also considerably low compared to the vehicles run on fossil fuels. As India is aiming at high renewable energy penetration, channelising this energy to EV, the net CO2 generation can be brought down to almost zero, he said.

To cater to the needs of currently available vehicle types, Power Grid will deploy Bharat Charger DC-001. As market evolves Power Grid would deploy compatible chargers meeting international standards for all type of electric vehicles.

It is also developing an app, which will help the consumers to locate and share the status of availability of the charging station and facilitate online payment towards EV charging for seamless operation with least waiting time. These EV charging stations will be monitored and operated remotely by Power Grid, said a press release.

not commercially yet...reva anedi oka 15 years nundi vundi market lo, mahindra group took over and rebranded them as mahindra e2o

it may be a while till electric cars will roll out commercially...
