Yes he was speaker earlier and also handled trust vote against Yeddiurappa..

 

Supreme Court made strong observations on a floor test he conducted in October 2010.

In October 2010, when then Chief Minister Yeddyurappa faced a trust vote Speaker Bopaiah, disqualified five independent MLAs and 11 BJP ones, for rebelling against the Chief Minister The trust vote was also chaotic and his choice of voice vote had come under huge criticism. While the Speaker’s decision on disqualification of MLAs was upheld by the Karnataka High Courtin February 2011, the Supreme Court later quashed the disqualification of MLAs making strong observations on the Speaker that he acted in “hot haste” and the proceedings he conducted on the disqualification application filed by Mr. Yeddyurappa did not meet the twin tests of natural justice and fair play.

appointing a senior member...and appointing senior most member is different..

SC should not interfere in the affairs of legistlature...this is really bad..

Supreme Court turns down Congress plea, Bopaiah to remain pro-tem Speaker
Supreme Court turns down Congress plea. Suggests all channels live telecast the floor test. KG Bopaiah will remain the pro-tem Speaker and conduct the floor test. The floor test is scheduled to happen at 4 pm today.

SC paridiloh untene vaallu chestaru ledante ledani cheptaaru...Earlier instances were quoted by lawyers how its usually done in regards with pro-tem speaker.

Akkada mundu ee govts ki 15 days time ivvala floor meeda balanirupanaki... Max it was one week and there were instances of them told to prove majority in 2-3 days similar to what has happened now..

SC never said we never don't any authority, if there isn't a authority they will not take up the issue...

They told with out hearing from the present pro-tem speaker we cannot pass a order against , adi cheste notice issue cheyyali and that would postpone the floor test. So told it to continue.
