visitor visa meda driving in USA , insurance

my fil wants to drive in US , he is on B1 visa , he has valid indian license and has more than 40 years experience driving car.

Should we aplly for driver license here , we live in minnesota 

second what about insurance , can he use my insurance to drive around or should we call up to isnurance company for adding additional person

He can use your driving licence ... Which means insurance is covered .. also give your passport ... So he can use green card or h1b (as applicable)

Check With DMV ... mostly no in MN as they ask for SSN
