I never heard that reason from any of my American friends, but they think the bread quality is super cheap in Subway. Agree with that.

Deeniki pedda logic emi ledu,  because of too many units, each franchise owner is competing with their own brand in 100 ft or less in some areas causing the average store sales pulling down. Over franchising model hurts too much. It can be any. Unless a owner owns 5 units they won't see any ROI at the end of the day.

Not might, it is the only reason. They probably take it too easy on the menu as well and unable to keep up the momentum when it was super-hit at one point.
