Servers and wait staff work on tips only. That is how it works in this country. The same does not apply to the rest of the world because the prices include service tax or they charge you at the end. 

Tipping culture varies across different countries and the US is a part of it. I think if you dont tip a good service, you are the one that is begging not them.
