bayya,

frnd okadini maa company lo join cheyincha via referral. All went well and its time to deal with HR now. HR contacted him with an offer of X amount. He took his time and counter offered HR with Y amount (12% more). HR reached back saying that unfortunately, they cannot go up in the compensation, however, we can give you a sign-on bonus of 10K (taxable), you can use it however you want. And to be noted here, there is no moving expenses, everything includes in the sign-on bonus.

Now, how can he deal with it. He wanted to atleast have 5% more than what they offered plus sign-on bonus. Any negotiations he can still do, or anni mooskoni teeskovala? Any suggestions? What else to consider before accepting the offer? $%^

btw, this is FTE to the company, candidate on h1b and the compensation they are offering is above the average salary for that position in that city.

basically manodiki 15k ekkuva ostundi but he currently works in CA (very high living expenses) versus this new offer is in remote state though. He is in confusion. When compared, he is making way more than what he is making now. But he is kinda back and forth to choose, coz he is going down on his compensation, when you look at the numbers. So, db peddalu inka emanna uchita salahaalu istaaremo ani.

I also did the same and regret it. Just because it is a remote state does not mean cost of living is less. Think of other things like property taxes sales taxes state taxes. Also within these states only a few school districts will be good and house prices there will be more compared to the salary

Above avg Salary ayithe inka join avvamanu. Otherwaise give the counter offer with 5% more + Sign on Bonus. But some times it might fire back.  Nevu refer chesavu kabatii, above avg salary isthunaru emo. General ga client offer bit less that avg salasry.
