క్సాక్‌కు చెందిన జాక్‌, మరియా దంపతులకు ఇద్దరు ఆడ పిల్లలు జన్మించారు. వారిలో ఒకామె మానసికంగా ఎదగలేదు. అన్ని వైద్య పరీక్షలు చేయించారు. చివరికి శస్త్రచికిత్స చేస్తేనే పాప ఆరోగ్యం బాగుపడుతుందని, అందుకు లక్షల్లో ఖర్చు అవుతుందని వైద్యులు తేల్చిచెప్పారు. అప్పటికే పాప కోసం జాక్‌, మరియా ఆస్పత్రుల చుట్టూ తిరిగి ఉన్నదంతా మందులకే ఖర్చు చేశారు. పోనీ ప్రభుత్వం అమలు చేస్తున్న ఆరోగ్య పథకం (మెడికెయిడ్‌) ద్వారా వైద్యం చేయిద్దామంటే వారి కుటుంబం ఈ పథకానికి అనర్హులు. ఎందుకంటే ‘మెడికెయిడ్‌’ పొందడానికి ఉండాల్సిన వార్షిక ఆదాయానికి మించి జాక్‌ ఆదాయం ఉంది. దీంతో పథకం పాపకు వర్తించదు. ఏం చేయాలో పాలుపోని స్థితిలోనే ఈ జంట విడాకులు తీసుకోవాలని నిర్ణయం తీసుకుంది. జాక్‌ నుంచి విడాకులు తీసుకొని మరియా తన బిడ్డతో వేరుపడితే తనకు సంపాదన ఉండదు.. దీంతో ‘మెడికెయిడ్‌’ మరియా కూతురికి వర్తిస్తుంది. ఇదే ఆలోచనతో ఇద్దరు విడాకులు తీసుకుంటున్నారు.

‘‘మా పాపం కోసం చేయాల్సినవన్నీ చేశాం. మందుల కోసం చాలా ఖర్చుపెట్టాం. ఇప్పుడు నిస్సహాయ స్థితిలో ఉన్నాం. మాకు మరో దారి లేదు. అందుకే విడాకులకు సిద్ధపడ్డాం. మేం స్వచ్ఛంద సంస్థల సహాయం కోసం, విరాళాల కోసం ఎదురుచూడటం లేదు. అలాంటి సాయం మాకొద్దు. ప్రభుత్వం మాకు కల్పించే ప్రయోజనాలు సక్రమంగా అమలయ్యేలా చూస్తే చాలు. మాలాంటి పరిస్థితి ఇంకోకరికి రాకూడదు’’ అని భార్యభర్తలు చెబుతున్నారు.
