Time and again I have vouched for such things happening. Its our responsibility to make sure our life is insured. we don't need third persons to come to our rescue by initiating gofunds and collecting amounts. 

I'm not sure in this case if Sharath's father needs to authorise the fund amound. To the best of what I know, the person/individual who has initiated the gofund process will have authorisation to the fund money, however gofund will do a validation to see if the claim advertised is true or not. 

GofUnd charges 7% as its fees and once the campaign in closed, the beneficiary will usually get paid in the next 8-10 days for amounts lesser than $100,000  and few more days of its over the limit.

I agree with you on the life insurance part. 

Person who initiated need not be the beneficiary always. If I'm not wrong, in this case, the person who initiated was only acting as someone representing the family. So that might be the reason why Gofund needs Sharath's father's authorisation to withdraw the funds. I don't know the amount Gofund charges as commission or timeframe they take to release the funds.
