Villagers, whose 'kutcha' houses have been destroyed in the devastating floods, would be provided the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana-Gramin homes on a priority basis Declared RS 50,000 to the victims who have been reported to be seriously injured. Under the Mission for the Integrated Development of Horticulture, farmers would be provided assistance for replantation of damaged horticulture crops. Western Naval Command sailed Indian Naval Ship (INS) Mysore with relief material to provide assistance to Kerala, ship carried about 70 tonnes of relief material which includes bottled water, ready to eat meals, fresh ration, milk, biscuits and other miscellaneous things like medicines, essential toiletries, phenyl, gash bags, bleaching powder, and candles. The Western Naval Command's Karwar Naval Base has also sent approximately 15 tonnes of fresh rations on Indian Naval Ship Sharda. INS Deepak had sailed from Mumbai for Kochi with divers, Geminis, raincoats, gumboots, bottled water, fresh rations and ready to eat meals. National Disaster Response Force (NDRF), Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) and other Central Ministries and Kerala Government coordinated the rescue mission. Navy,Air Force, Army, NDRF and Central Armed Police Forces (CAPFs) are engaged in the rescue and relief operations. Sushama Swaraj announced that the passports damaged in Kerala flood will be renewed for free. Indian Railway announced free transportation cost for sending relief materials to Kerala. Indian Railway supplied 14.5 lakh litres of drinking water to Kerala. The Ministry of Civil Aviation has cleared the use of naval airbase INS Garuda at Kochi for civilian operations to address the flight disruptions caused at Cochin International Airport due to flood. Central government allocated 50000 mt food grains to Kerala. Central government allocated 9,300 Kilolitre of kerosene to Kerala. The Department of Consumer Affairs made arrangements to airlift 100 metric tonnes of pulses. Railways provided free blankets and bedsheets to meet the immediate requirements of the state government. And surprise pack are the Kerela Fishermen. These guys did a great job. Their skills were very useful. These people are better swimmers and their skills shave been used effectively. Quote

Spartan Posted August 21, 2018 Report Posted August 21, 2018 The central assistance of Rs 500 crore as announced by Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Rs 100 crore announced by Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh for flood-affected Kerala has been released to the government of Kerala today, an official spokesperson said. TAX WAIVER: The central government has also decided to waive customs duty and the IGST on the relief materials being imported to aid the people in the flood-affected areas in Kerala. The IGST refers to the integrated goods and services tax which is a part of GST under the concept of one nation one tax. It is charged on the goods and services supplied from one state to another. RICE and PULSES: The department of food and public distribution has made additional allocation of 89,540 Metric Tonne (MT) of rice as per the state government's request. The department of consumer affairs, in addition to 100 MT of pulses supplied earlier, is sending additional quantities of green gram and Tur dal. OIL AND GAS Public sector oil marketing companies have contributed Rs 25 crore to the chief minister's relief fund in Kerala. The ministry of petroleum and natural gas has opened special points in the flood affected areas of the state for LPG distribution. Permission has also been granted, in coordination with the state government, for non-certified vehicles to carry LPG cylinders. The petroleum ministry has also made available 3.2 lakh LPG cylinders and 2.2 lakh regulators. RAILWAYS The Railways have so far supplied 24 lakh litres of drinking water in addition to 2.7 lakh water bottles. Another 14 lakh litres water is currently available at Ernakulam. Railways has also made arrangements for supply of bed sheets and blankets. HEALTH MINISTRY The health ministry will supply three crore chlorine tablets in addition to one crore tablets supplied earlier. At least 30 tonnes of bleaching powder and 1.76 lakh sanitary pads have also been sent. Additional quantities will also be sent in the next few days. No major outbreak of disease has been reported so far. As per the the state government's requirement, essential spices, salt, tea and coffee are also being supplied by the Ministry of Food Processing Industries. As the rescue operations wind down, state administration has started de-requisitioning the teams of defence forces and NDRF. Quote
