depends upon how much your company is contributing , depends upon your future plan.

what is your base salary ?

Max contribution : $18,500 from your side.

Whats your tax bracket ?

it is good to contribute full amount. depends upon your case

the max amount for year is $18,500 .  not % wise.  unless your base salary is $185K , then its 10% 😃

let say ur salary is 100K.

with std deduction rates, married filing jointly ( u and spouse) = 24K

so ur AGI (annual gross income) = 100-24 = 76K

a 76K lo lets say u move like 5K to 401, then ur AGI = 71K  (assuming u dont have any other income from stocks etcc)

71K ki tax kadtav whcih falls in the  below 12% range.

12%

    $19,051 to $77,400
