Every city is like that. You are limited to the opportunities in the companies located in that city. Seattle, Dallas, Raleigh Durham, Denver, Philly.. Before ATL I used to stay in Seattle and In seattle you are either working in Amazon, Star Bucks, Expedia, Microsoft or nothing.

Bay area has more opportunities but the quality of life there sucks.. Work places are horribly competitive, 3500$ a month for a one bedroom apartment, significantly high taxes, home prices and gas prices and grocery prices. On paper you make a lot more money but at the end of the day guys living in ATL, Dallas, Raleigh Durham have a better standard/quality of living than someone making twice their salary in the bay area..

Seattle , no snow and state tax . Awesome job oppurtunities  , liberal state, awesome nature and good if your into recreation you can easily get 150k salary if you have solid experience .
