Chandrababu Naidu To Dissolve Andhra Pradesh Assembly Seeking To Club Polls With Telangana, Claim Sources

Six days after Telangana caretaker CM Kalvakuntla Chandrashekar Rao dissolved the state assembly, sources have told Republic TV that Chandrababu Naidu could dissolve the Andhra Pradesh assembly in a week’s time as he wants the state elections to be clubbed with polls in Telangana. The political scoop has triggered speculations over early elections.

Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, Chhattisgarh are due for elections soon, and now if Andhra Pradesh CM Chandrababu Naidu dissolves the assembly in one week, as told by the sources in TDP, there could be elections in five states instead of three.

Earlier on September 6, Telangana caretaker Chief Minister KCR dissolved the state's assembly and tendered his resignation to the Governor. Following the dissolution of the assembly, KCR was appointed as the caretaker CM of the state.

Interestingly, after his big political move, KCR announced 105 of 119 assembly candidates from his TRS party, however, he didn’t announce candidates for any of the seats where BJP MLAs were incumbent, setting in motion speculations of TRS allying with the BJP. Furthermore, KCR’s ‘buffoon’ remark for Congress President Rahul Gandhi gave wind to the speculative fire on the alliance possibility between BJP and TRS.

With speculations getting momentum on election dates for Telangana, Chief Election Commissioner OP Rawat made it clear that the dates for election in Telangana, will not be announced as per the convenience of any party. The Chief Election Commissioner’s statement came in the wake of members of KCR’s party meeting with EC chief in New Delhi, demanding the elections to take take place before the end of this year.

Speaking exclusively to Republic TV, Rawat had said, "Election Commission got to know about the dissolution yesterday (Thursday) evening when our CEO informed about the notification. We will not go by astrological prediction or any assertion by any political party that election will be held, announcement will be held. All those things we are not going to take into account."
