Job - question from recruiters - help limited

Hi friends,

i am actively looking for jobs. 

I got a call from an employer and date was finalized. She sent me rate confirmation email and asked for additional details like time for interview etc. she also asked for resume.. which is fine. 

She also asked to share visa copy/green card, passport number and driving license copy. I said I will share these during background check but why do you need now ? She said they collect these from all candidates but couldn’t convince me. 

My question friends is. Is it common to ask visa/gc, passport. number and driving license picture during CV submission. I felt suspicious so wanted to check with experts. 

What will employers (consultants)do withpassport number and DL copy ??

Yes this is common . I94 Check cheyadaniki adugutunnaru PP from last year . DL /i797 asking kuda common .
