YSR or CBN wouldn’t have sustained that long in my opinion because there are too many regional forces at play in united AP which could split the vote % either way. KCR recognized that early and was on his mission to destroy TDP and made every effort to make it a 2 way contest (even didn’t let BJP grow). Usually the parties that have 5% difference in vote share has any chance at winning by coalition politics and if it is more than that good luck

Historically most parties if they lose continuous 2 elections most chances are that they will lose again if the ruling party is strong and have a strong leader be it in case of gujarat, mp, orissa, or west bengal. In all these states opposition have been warming their benches for the last 20+ years since there have been no strong opposition or a steong opposition leader.

My reasoning is that any political party is just like any other enterprise, fighting elections is a costly affair and most politician can’t afford to lose more than once, there are some wealthy ones who are an exception but just to get 100-200 contestants with deep pockets and popularity around the election time is going to be challenge and even they find it is not going to work because most times they are out of touch with the constituency and internal in-fightings from the incumbents, unless they have an extremely popular and strong leader for the come back like YSR in 2004 or Modi in 2014 or the ruling party have to be in crisis like current aiadmk or post ysr demise congress
