Different cards have different purposes , pick one from this list and you can not go wrong , also check nerd wallet , points guy on how to leverage points/rewards from these cards

Travel : Chase Sapphire Preferred (95$ annual fee but worth it)

Travel/Airlines : Citi AA or Amex Delta , choose your pick based on your travel needs

Travel Hotel : IHG , Hyatt , Starwood preferred Guest (Most cards give one annual night free for pretty much less than 100$ annual fee , If you book it in a good tier hotel it will usually cost 200-250+ in IHG , Starwood is on another level and those points are worth a lot more if you are a frequent traveler and into consulting etc

General 5% cash back rotating categories : Chase Freedom/Discover IT

Groceries : Amex Blue cash Preferred (95$ fee) - 6% back on groceries , or Blue cash ( no annual fee) - 3% cash back on groceries

Costco Citi if you are costco fan

Capital One Quicksilver/Chase Freedom Unlimited for 1.5% on all purchases
