my 2 cents - U shud split that FD amount between you and your spouse. You can deposit upto 35 laks on each which will not have tax at all. remaining you can use other FD kind of mediums like LIC & post office. which will cover another 50 laks. Rest of the FD amount (80 laks) ki vache income ni expenses laga chupinchali like expenses for your parents. So hardly u will end up paying tax for 10 to 20 laks
