Long term adv/dis-adv of moving to bay area ?

Friend working in south east with very good pay compared in that area. He don't own a house yet, are there any disadvantages of moving to bay area to work in elite companies ? 

considering current visa conditions and not thinking of home anytime soon, what are the longterm advantages/disadvantages of moving to bay considering only the rents and housing to be extremely high. What if the new salary negates the rent expense ?

advantages: weather, more salary. lot of places to visit. lot of indian communities. lot of companies which makes changing jobs easy

disadvantages: high prices for rents/home(more salary compensates for this).. TOO MUCH TRAFFIC

one of my friend said.. "lot of places to visit" is a disadvantage as it's spending money
