Naidu to distribute cheques to Titli victims at Palasa today

Officials review arrangements for his visit

Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu will distribute cheques towards payment of compensation to those affected by cyclone Titli during a public meeting to be organised at Palasa in the district on Monday. Mr. Naidu would reach Palasa by a helicopter from Srikakulam by 1 p.m. After interacting with the people’s representatives and officials, he would address a public meeting. Later, he would seek the opinion of the heads of departments on the relief measures extended in the affected areas. Mr. Naidu would later leave for Visakhapatnam and then take a special flight to reach Vijayawada. Minister for Transport K. Atchnannaidu and district Collector K. Dhananjaya Reddy reviewed the arrangements for Mr. Naidu’s visit.

They directed the mandal-level officials to distribute the cheques in their respective places.

Meanwhile, leaders of the CPI(M) and the CITU asked Mr. Naidu to cancel the land allotment made to the Nuclear Power Corporation of India Limited (NPCL) at Kovvada for the establishment of a nuclear power plant as the district was not the right place. They said Titli proved that natural disasters posed a great
