Naidu eyeing 2 key Cabinet posts: Harish Rao

Hyderabad: Describing the Congress-TDP alliance as a deep-rooted conspiracy, Irrigation Minister T Harish Rao on Friday said that Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister and TDP president N Chandrababu Naidu was trying to take control of Telangana State by placing Congress at the helm of government. He said Naidu had sought two key Cabinet portfolios — Irrigation and Home — for TDP if the Congress-led Prajakutami forms the government to safeguard himself.

Addressing leaders and activists of Congress and Telugu Desam Party who joined the TRS at Telangana Bhavan here, Harish Rao said Naidu agreed to fund electioneering of Congress leaders in Telangana State in exchange for two Cabinet posts in the event of Prajakutami coming to power. “Naidu wants to control our water resources including Krishna and Godavari rivers to divert them to Andhra Pradesh. He also sought Home Ministry under his control to escape from the Vote-for-Note scam,” he said, adding that neither the Prajakutami will win the polls nor will Congress its position as main Opposition in the Assembly.

Stating that the TRS got rid of TDP for the good of the people of Telangana State, he said that, Congress leaders, due to their inefficiency in administration, were trying to bring back the nightmare which will spell doom for the State. He recalled that how the then Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy refused to release funds for drinking water projects of Telangana region even as the Telangana Congress leaders broke into an applause instead of objecting to them. He said the Congress leaders were enslaved to serve their Andhra bosses.

The Minister said only Chief Minister and TRS president K Chandrashekhar Rao can counter such conspiracies and safeguard the rights of people of Telangana State. He pointed out that while six decades of Congress and TDP rule failed to develop Telangana region, four and half years of KCR rule had brought unprecedented development in the State. “If we want the State to continue on the growth path, we need TRS in power. Work for the victory of TRS for the next 40 days, and we will work for your development for the next 60 months,” he declared.

Harish Rao pointed out that Chandrababu Naidu continues to cause hindrances in the supply of water to Palamuru region and had written over 30 letters against Telangana projects meant to supply irrigation and drinking water in the region. He said Naidu complained against Telangana government seeking stoppage of operation of pumps and also projects claiming that Andhra Pradesh was falling short of water. “We are using only our rightful share of water allocated by the Centre but not seeking from others’ shares like Chandrababu Naidu,” he said.
