Lowe's is closing 51 stores in the US and Canada

Lowe's said Monday those locations are underperforming and decision will help the hardware chain focus on its most profitable stores.
"The store closures are a necessary step in our strategic reassessment as we focus on building a stronger business," said CEO Marvin Ellison, in a statement.
Retail stores are struggling to adjust to the rapid rise of online shopping, particularly from Amazon

Sears was a non factor for many years now and I don’t think there isn’t much to gain from sears. Their home brands like craftsman, kenmore etc are either spun off or being done so. That said sears will disappear but these brands will still exist in some form with some company or separate entities.
