Home loans at 5.5% as of today, in 2007 when my brother purchased his house he signed at 7%. It's not too far.

7% pay chesaka if it dropped to 4% also it's much better but I think he did but i am not sure where is he at now.

But aren't we looking for the long term? Like doesn't economy hit these bumps every few years? I am just worried since a lions share of my income is in 401k

Economy correction is inevitable. 2018 gains wiped in one day. Stocks aren't a thing to consider IMO. There is no residual value in it. You cannot assure anything and it's pure risk.
