Hyderabad: Yet another pre-poll survey, the ninth in a row, gave a thumbs up to Telangana Rashtra Samithi in the December 7 Assembly election. The ruling party is likely to win 70 seats in the 119 member House, the survey said.

The Times Now-CNX survey telecast on Friday gives MIM eight seats, Congress 31 and TDP two — 13 down from its 2014 score of 15 seats. BJP, which is seeking to make inroads in the State, is likely to be two down from its 2014 tally of five to settle at three seats, all from the Greater Hyderabad limits.

 

The channel described the survey findings as ‘Rahul-Naidu combo rejected’. The survey found about 53 per cent of the people saying a firm ‘yes’ to a question on whether Congress hurt the ‘Telangana sentiment’ by allying with TDP, which was against the creation of a separate Telangana State.

TRS, which is seeking a second straight term in office, has a distinct advantage over the opposition in vote share, garnering about 38 per cent and in the process, recording a 3.25 per cent positive vote swing. Congress’ vote share is also expected to improve from its 2014 figure of 25.20 per cent to 27.98 per cent.

What is also significant is that TRS is expected to win nine of the 24 Assembly seats in Greater Hyderabad, with MIM accounting for another eight. This is a major improvement for TRS from its earlier three seats to nine in the coming elections, adding an additional six seats into its kitty. TDP is the worst sufferer losing eight city seats, and ending with just one.
