Parigi: Slamming TDP President andc Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu for interfering in the affairs of Telangana State, Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao termed him as a mental case. “Naidu who claims to have constructed Hyderabad, which has a history of over 400 years, could not place a brick for construction of Amaravathi in last five years,” he said, addressing a massive and enthusiastic crowd at an election rally at Parigi on Sunday.

Quli Qutb Shah, who founded Hyderabad, would be turning in his grave if he could listen to what Naidu has to say now about the city, he said.

“Quli Qutb Shah constructed Hyderabad more than 400 years ago. If Naidu claims to have constructed Hyderabad, he must be a contemporary of Quli Qutb Shah,” he said. He said Naidu keeps claiming to have put Hyderabad on the international map, but could not do anything but create computer graphics for construction of Amaravathi in the last five years.

Chandrashekhar Rao explained why he termed Naidu as a mental case. “He (Naidu) asked officials to ban goats to protect forests. Sheep are part of this world and existed before Naidu. Who gave him the right to ban sheep? People need to be careful with such people,” he said.

The TRS President recalled his association with former Deputy Speaker Koppula Harishwar Reddy and how Telangana MLA candidates were humiliated when TDP founder President late NT Rama Rao during ticket distribution in 1989. He said that all MLA candidates from Telangana were forced to wait outside a film studio at Nacharam under the scorching sun like beggars with neither tent nor chairs arranged for them.

“We could not dare to come out and fight for our rights as young politicians. But when Naidu hiked power charges, it was the turning point and I did not consult anybody before coming out to fight for separate State. The rest is history,” he said.

Wondering why intelligent brains in the Congress and the TDP from Andhra region could not think of implementing welfare schemes like TRS, Rao assured people to increase the State revenues and distribute them among the needy through welfare measures. He accused the Congress and TDP leaders of syphoning off people’s money.

He cautioned people that battle for Telangana did not end and stated that silence of educated people could cause severe damage to the State under these tiring conditions. He emphasised the need for the TRS to hold the ground and keep evil forces away from returning to loot the State again. “We were able to achieve a few things, but some benefits are yet to reach people. We need some more time to set things right,” he added.

The Chief Minister reiterated that the poll battle was only between the TRS and the Congress coalition in the State, and people were completely aware of the work done by both the parties during their respective tenures.
“Compare the power situation during the terms of all these parties. The undivided Andhra Pradesh suffered from power crisis and even sold properties to pay electricity bills, while the then Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy predicted worse conditions for Telangana region once the State is bifurcated. But today, Telangana stands top among the States with highest per capita power utilisation,” he observed.

He alleged that the Andhra rulers had damaged the livelihood of traditional occupations in Telangana region, forcing them to either abandon their professions or commit suicides whereas the TRS government was making attempts to restore their lifestyle by promoting traditional occupations.

On the occasion, the Chief Minister promised to sanction a degree college and a polytechnic college for Parigi constituency soon after the elections. He stated that latest survey reports indicated 103-106 seats for the TRS in the elections and informed that TRS nominee K Maheshwar Reddy would win with 68.7 per cent votes. He said he would take the responsibility of developing the constituency.

KCR slams Congress hypocrisy on corruption

Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao launched a scathing attack on the Congress for levelling allegations of corruption against the TRS government.

He was addressing a public meeting in Devarakadra as part of his election campaign in Palamuru region on Sunday. “Randeep Surjewala alleged that the TRS government was full of corruption. Let me ask how the Congress can even blame others about corruption when their party has been known to have perpetrated major scams during their rule? “Bhaktha Charan Das, who was entrusted with issuing Congress tickets for candidates, has himself demanded Rs 3 crore from prospective candidates and this has been video documented when his son demanded money from Mallesh Yadav, who was an aspirant of the Congress ticket from Shandnagar constituency. This is your culture. Even Mallesh Yadav is soon going to join the TRS,” he told the people of Devarkadra.

He even faulted Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi’s announcements during their public meeting in Medchal about giving special category status to Andhra Pradesh if they formed the government at the Centre.

“Rahul may give special category status, he may give special package or he may even take a dip in the Ganga. I’m least bothered. But can he give an assurance to the people of Telangana that he will give special incentives to Telangana for setting up industries in Telangana?” he sought to know.
