797 photo copy is more than enough. I went to my H1 stamping with photocopy. They can pull your receipt as long as they know the number.

India ayite that works. Third country stamping ayite i797 original lekunda you cant get fingerprinting done /enter consulate too. They even take original i797 and return it with PP.

I went to Ottawa, i don't remember they took my 797. Unless they want to spy on you this is not something i am familiar.

You might have forgotten . Asalu i797 original lekunda you cant get stamped in third country. Canada/Mexico or Jamaica.

Your employer or lawyer should have the 797C copy. You can take that one also to interview just in case.

i went to vancouver in dec 2012 and they forgot to give back i797 . Inko roju undi next day morning consulate ki velli mari techukunna. Anduke naku anta baga gurthundi. That was my 1st h1 stamping. Later 2014 feb lo Jamaica, 2017 march lo mexico and malla 2018 june lo mexico ki vellanu preti chota they checked i797 at entrance before letting me into consulate and took i797 and returned with PP.

checking is different but there is no such rule that you have to produce original 797 (i maybe wrong).
