Hello responsible citizens,

I am kk, am about 33 years and living in Australia for over 12 years got a own home here and working in a law enforcement department. Just like any telugu person all my friends who live in US are suggesting me to move to US and get a job in IT and settle down there. We usually have E3 visas for Australians with may be easier to get, compared to H1b. I know that I have a good job here, but sometimes I have to take SH*t for what my colleagues did, even though I disagree with them I still got to stand by them for legal issues and there are some professional issues( which are not major).

I request and Thank you in advance for taking your time. Do you think is it a good idea to relocate to US and move to IT ?

I am taking suggestions form lot of people, thought of trying from you experienced folks who saw in and out of US job market and have experience living here.

I got masters in programming from aus and worked as a lecturer in it for 2.5 years in the past.

Regards,

I can add some perspective here as i know someone who is working in IT on E3 visa. Their complains are IT offices are full of desis and there is lot of politics, they like US but not desi ppl raw behavior at work place. Desi uncles in US are very nosy. The family have been in Australia for 12 years but moved to US for kids education and yes they also thought US is a better choice. To be honest, they never concluded that they want to go back to australia.  Its kinda weird as the flavor of season seems to be Canada and Austrailia here  in US and Migrating to US there in aussie. I see many people coming on E3 and its a strong visa. You can now also welcome irish friends to join the wagon.

Another thing is, if you want to move, find a direct IT client rather than a Mestri.. I personally don't see a value or a genuine point coming on E3 Visa and working for a mestri . If i had E3 visa i wouldn't give my any % share to milkmans. If you can't find a direct client, find some big staffing firm from US like Randstad, Robert half etc..  Hospitality of the country is great, but be ready to face other day to day challenges too, which are unique to the land. The US now isn't the US it use to be  5 years agao, its a very divided nation right now. Be mindful of the current politics before you make any decision. If you can get a job in IT Australia, you can do a intercompany transfer to US.  Offcourse ,you always have the option to go back to australia, if this little experiment doesn't bear any fruits. Believe me Visiting a country and living in a country are poles apart. You might find your new life facinating as long as it lasts.  There is no doubt US is a land of opportunities and Technology is very strong. We are also talking not only US now its global technology indeed. Country will welcome you with open arms while at the same time will provide you the freedom to bear arms, the 2nd amendment.

All the very best, Set your finances strong before landing on the land of the free.
