Even  with any organ transplant the avg life expectancy is about 5-10 years after the surgery, are bound to have some complications and it is not seamless. A guy like steve jobs can’t survive for too long after liver transplant veedu enta cheppu man. 

Many people prolong with treatment like dialysis and transplant is the very last recourse if everything else fails
