They used to vote for YCP and now with the news/rumors/circumstantial evidence  that YCP had a secret alliance with BJP, Muslims may favour TDP in AP. 

 

Jagan may be trying to get some help from MIM to ensure that they continue to support YCP for next elections also.

• AIMIM made its entry into Karnataka state by winning 6 seats in Karnataka local body elections held in March 2013.

 

• In the 2014 elections, AIMIM contested in 35 MLA (20 in Telangana and 15 in Seemandhra) and 6 MP seats in undivided Andhra Pradesh, but was not able to win any extra seats and won the same seven Assembly seats and one lone Lok Sabha seat in Old Hyderabad city.

 

• In the 2014 elections, in its efforts to win a majority of divisions in the Nizamabad comprising a sizeable Muslim population and also the urban Assembly seat, the MIM this time focused its attention on the constituency giving it the second priority after the state capital, Hyderabad.MIM won 16 divisions of the total 50 in Nizamabad City Municipal Corporation.

 

• The party has for the first time opened its account in Seemandhra by securing five wards of Adoni municipality in Kurnool district.

 

• AIMIM performed very well in Uttar Pradesh Civic Body Elections 2017 and registered victory on 31 seats out of 78 seats it contested.

Muslims have been anti BJP since the beginning. Their population growth has been because of congress turning a blind eye on what happens within that community.  It is a way of securing their vote bank for the last 70 years. Ultimately nuslims are congress pawns. TDP is aligned with congress now. They say that they are 5% or whatever but it may be much more in AP. In a fair few constituencies they will be swing vote bank. Jagan will never openly support BJP because of this. He needs their votes along with SC,ST, BC and Reddy. Pawan will split TDP votebank. This can be partially filled with Muslims.
