Mitron Posted December 18, 2018 Report Posted December 18, 2018 Karnataka temple poisoning: Poisoned by greed, this seer, trio did it! Salur Matha junior seer, temple trust manager and wife too held for plotting incident. The Ramapura police arrested MM Hills Saluru Matha seer Pattada Immadi Mahadevaswamy, Ambika, Madesha and Doddaiah in connection with the food poisoning at a temple in Chamarajanagar, on Wednesday – KPN Mysuru: The ugly truth behind the dastardly Chamarajnagar temple prasada tragedy is finally out, with the police revealing on Wednesday that it was, as Deccan Chronicle reported, the junior pontiff of Saluru Matha, Immadi Mahadevaswamy (52) who instructed temple manager Madesh (46), his wife Ambika (35) and priest Doddaiah Thambadi (35) to mix poison in the 15 kg rice bath which was served as prasada on Friday last, killing 15 people. Mahadevaswamy is the president of the temple trust, and was motivated by greed to allegedly take over the temple by making it look as if his rivals had poisoned the devotees. The police arrested all four accused and produced them before the magistrate at Kollegal who remanded them to police custody. Southern Range IGP Sharath Chandra said that acting on Mahadevaswamy's instructions, Ambika procured 500 ml of Monocrotophos, a deadly insecticide, from an agriculture officer. Doddaiah mixed the poison in the prasada ensuring the cooks were not around on the fateful day. Chamarajnagar police who have cracked the temple prasada poisoning case, have concluded that it was on the instructions of the junior pontiff of Salur Matha, Immadi Mahadevaswamy (52), that temple manager Madesh (46), his wife Ambika (35) and Baragur based priest Doddaiah Thambadi (35) entered into a conspiracy to mix poison in the 15 kg rice bath which was served as prasada on Friday last. Mahadevaswamy also happens to be the president of the temple trust As many as 15 people have died while 104 people are still under treatment after consuming the lethal prasada at Kuchchuguththi Maramma temple at Sulawadi in Chamarajnagar. The police have arrested all four accused and produced them before the magistrate at Kollegal who handed them over to police custody for four days. Southern Range IGP Mr Sharath Chandra who revealed details of the sinister planning behind the horrendous episode, said that to ensure complete power over Kuchchuguththi Maramma temple trust, junior pontiff of Salur Math, Immadi Mahadevaswamy conceived the plan. Allegedly acting on his instructions, Ambika, wife of temple manager Madesh procured 500 ml of Monocrotophos, a deadly insecticide, from an agriculture officer who is her relative, on the pretext of using it for plants in her pots, eight to ten days in advance. According to the police, it was based on the instructions of Ambika that Doddaiah mixed poison in the prasada. He was earlier removed from the post of priest at Nagara Kallu after he was caught with one kg of ganja and was in police custody for five days. Explaining the sequence of events which led to the poisoning, the cops said priest Doddaiah entered the kitchen on Friday, the day when the foundation stone was laid for the temple gopura. One cook, Lokesh had gone to take a bath and Madesh sent the other two cooks, Eeranna and Puttaswamy away telling them to get the plates ready to serve food to the Salur Matha senior seer, Pattadaguruswamy who was invited for the function. When the cooks expressed their doubts about the odd smell in the rice bath, Madesh pacified them saying they might have put in more masala. And when devotees who were served the prasada after the pooja, expressed the same view, he told them that the cooks might have put in more 'pachcha karpoora' (camphor), the police said. According to the police, the temple functioned as a seva sangha till 2017 and Immadi Mahadevaswamy had complete control over the income. To regulate the usage of funds, the temple trust's Chinnappi, Shashi Bimba Neelakanta Shivachari swamy and others, registered the trust in 2017. Immadi Mahadevaswamy no longer enjoyed complete control over the funds as three people from the trust had to sign the cheque. The feud continued when Chinnappi and others decided to develop the temple and build a gopura using the trust money, Immadi Mahadevaswamy got his own plan worth Rs 1.5 crores but Chinnappi and others preferred a plan worth Rs 75 lakh. Without consulting Immadi Mahadevaswamy, Chinnappi and the others finalised the Gopura plan and invited the senior pontiff of Salur Matha, Pattadaguruswamy and Immadi Mahadevaswamy too for the function. "Enraged by this Immadi Mahadevaswamy allegedly decided to mix poison in the prasada so that Chinnappi and others would be sent to jail and he could enjoy all powers," explained Mr Sharat Chandra adding that the investigation will continue. https://www.deccanchronicle.com/nation/current-affairs/201218/karnataka-temple-poisoning-poisoned-by-greed-this-seer-trio-did-it.html @Kool_SRG Incident jarigina roju 7 unde count.. On Friday, prasad had been served at a Maramma temple in Hanur, resulting in the death of 11 people on the same day. Over 90 people are still being treated at hospitals in Mysuru and some of them are in critical condition. Police on Monday confirmed that tests on the food had indicated the presence of pesticide. Inspector General of Police, southern range, said "the poison belongs to the organophosphorus family." Doctors in Mysuru had told NDTV, even before the test results were in, that the patients were responding to treatment that is usually given in cases of pesticide poisoning. It is believed that the pesticide was deliberately introduced and that a rivalry over the running of the temple could have led to the alleged crime. The poisoning incident was raised in the state Assembly which is in session by Karnataka by Home Minister, Dr G Parameshwara. Chief H D Kumaraswamy had announced on Friday that Rs. 5 lakh would be given to the families of the deceased and that all medical treatment would be taken care of by the state government. The state Congress unit had also said it would give 1 lakh rupees to the bereaved families. A First Information Report (FIR) has been registered against seven people and the investigation is still on. Quote

Mitron Posted December 20, 2018 Author Report Posted December 20, 2018 On 12/18/2018 at 7:49 AM, Hector8 said: GODS will take care of them ..... 15 bottles of pesticide added to prasad that killed many in K'taka temple: cops Bengaluru: Days after 15 people died of poisoning and over 120 hospitalised after eating prasad, or religious offering, at a temple in Karnataka, a local seer and three others were arrested on Wednesday on charges of conspiring to kill devotees to defame the management and take control of the shrine. Police say 15 bottles of pesticides were added to the prasad while it was being prepared. The 52-year old seer and his three accomplices -- a woman, her husband and his friend -- have been charged with murder, attempt to murder and criminal conspiracy, senior police officer KV Sharath Chandra said. "Mahadeshwara Hill Saluru Math seer Pattada Immadi Mahadeshwara Swamy or Devanna Buddhi connived not only to take over the temple trust but also to defame the existing trust members," he told reporters in Chamarajanagar. The seer was in control of the temple trust till 2017, but was sidelined later, which infuriated him, the officer said. On orders of the seer, the 35-year old woman allegedly arranged for pesticide and her husband and his friend mixed it in the prasad while it was being prepared, he said. 15 died and more than 100 people are still in hospitals after consuming the poisonous prasad on December 14 at Sulvadi at an event to celebrate the groundbreaking ceremony for construction of the tower of the Kichchugutti Maramma Devi temple. He said the temple was under the total control of the seer till April 2017 generating huge money for him. However, at the insistence of local villagers and devotees, a trust was formed for expansion of the temple. "The seer was upset with the formation of the trust without his wish as his source of income almost dried up. Since then, shadow boxing between the temple management and the seer began," he said. In October this year, the trust decided to build the 'gopuram' (tower) and revealed its plan to the seer, who readily volunteered and got an action plan for Rs. 1.5 crore from a temple architect in Tamil Nadu, he said. The seer allegedly planned to mint money but the trust discarded his plan, saying that it was a sheer wastage of money and prepared another for Rs 75 lakh and decided to hold the groundbreaking ceremony on December 14, which irked him, the officer said. The seer directed the woman to mix poison in the prasad to defame the temple management and avenge his insult, the officer claimed. On December 14, the two men had poured 15 bottles of pesticide in the prasadafter sending away the cooks, he said. The cooks returned and noticed a bad smell. They misled the cooks by saying that it was a smell of edible camphor added to the prasad. https://www.deccanchronicle.com/nation/current-affairs/201218/15-bottles-pesticide-in-prasad-that-killed-many-in-karnataka-temple.html Quote
