The days of blackmailing the central government are long gone. At least for BJP those days are behind. Modi still has unbelievable backing from BIMARU states. Over half the seats are in those states only. If Congress comes to power may be there is a chance of blackmailing them as they may not have the same numbers. Currently, there is no chance of Congress coming close to 150 let alone 270. Special status is just a political talking point and nothing more as long as things stand this way.

Pretty much and that is why it will not happen. There is no chance of anyone else coming to power in the center. Even if BJP are short by a few seats, there is enough political willingness from TRS, BJD and many other regional parties to support them. There is no need for them to entertain anyone from Andhra. Special status as a talking point for this election is pure bullshit. No one is going to get it for Andhra. It will not happen now or in the foreseeable future.
