in America, TMobile changed all the equations.. after they introduced No contract plans with cheap pricing. it enabled mobile users to use the phone more than 2 years, unlike in the past they forced to replace phone for every 2 years.

lot of things contributed and it's inevitable that you cannot hold the carrier barrier and push customer to wait for 2 years before upgrade but T-Mobile doesn't have iPhone exclusivity when it's introduced and Apple wants to reach more people and only way is to break ATT contract & sign up with all carriers. There is nothing special about T-Mobile here

Wat he said is right. T mobile messed up contracts.. and every carrier shutdown 2 yrs contract with less proce. many people r not upgrading phones right after 2yrs as they used to because of full price

Without Apple's consent T Mobile can't do a jack. If you know anyone ask how Apple treats the resellers. They cannot discount or make changes on their own on any Apple Products and Apple allowed T Mobile contracts by lifting ATT exclusivity. At some point  wants to introduce the own carrier services but backed. iPad 2 is the first device shipped with  SIM and they didn't make it to final stages.
