Florida Governor Ron DeSantis is reportedly close to suspending Sheriff Scott Israel, whose response as sheriff of Broward County to the February 2018 school shooting inspired criticism. DeSantis said in his inaugural speech that he would "remove" any local officials who were "neglectful of required duties."
