i don’t know any professors here. 

Should it be from a person who has done significant research on the specialization chosen ?

I knew some of SMEs in our project who have done phds  but I couldn’t get referrals from them for obvious reasons. I don’t see others in my circle. I can check out Fb friends but may not be in the same field.

No masters. I can get one referral from a PhD person (previous project). I need total 3.

I am not a phd but had an admission in past like 5 yrs ago. I kept moving places so couldn't pursue .

You can get from managers or colleagues too. Valla designation kanna what they write is important . Annitikanna statement of purpose is important.
