Senate reaches deal to give federal employees backpay after the shutdown

On Thursday, the Senate passed a bill granting backpay to federal workers when the shutdown ends after Democrats threatened to keep the Senate from adjourning. It passed with unanimous consent. Majority Leader Mitch McConnell has said Trump would sign the bill.
