On Tuesday, millions of pilgrims will take a plunge in the icy waters at the confluence of the Ganges, the Yamuna and a mythical third river, the Saraswati, in the city of Prayagraj (formerly known as Allahabad) in the north Indian state of Uttar Pradesh. The festival will go on for eight weeks and authorities expect 120-150 million people.
