Thousands of people across the country are protesting against President Nicolás Maduro, as the country experiences hyperinflation and escalating poverty. National Assembly president Juan Guaidó has declared himself the interim leader of the country, saying Maduro's leadership isn't legitimate. The move has been backed by US President Trump.

piece of sh1t, venezuela is a capitalist state.. its more capitalist than india. but also has a much bigger welfare system that has improved its literacy to 90+%, provided food and health to all within 20yrs, starting from Chavez's presidency. btw, he was elected too, and not a dictator. lol.

the protestors (about half of them) are from elites and upper middle class, who want their economy to be further opened up, and the welfare system to be greatly reduced (starving 10s of thousands that depend on it), so that they can have the money to buy iPhones. The other half of the protestors are angry because govt cut back on spending, and they've bought into the elitist's agenda.

this is literally the opposition to Maduro (who is himself an asshole, but compared to his protestors, he's better)
