Many industries expanding in Telangana

Hyderabad: Continuing to bet big on Telangana, several companies have committed to increase their investments in the State.

Key among them include Adani Group deciding to foray into logistics; Welspun, which has technical textile manufacturing unit in the State, is also starting a logistics park in about 100 acre, said a senior Government official.

The Logistic Park by the Adani Group will come closer to the unmanned aircraft unit it has announced recently near Shamshabad. “They are starting with 25 acre,” said Industries Principal Secretary Jayesh Ranjan.

Welspun
The other player is Welspun that has diversified into logistics. It has already set up a technical textile unit in the State. They have also evinced interest in making steel pipes. They have added logistics domain later seeing its potential in the State. We have allotted about 100 acre to them. The official did not quantify the investments that Welspun will make in the logistics segment.
“Both Adani and Welspun have already signed agreements with Telangana for investments in logistics,” Ranjan said at the Ficci national executive committee meeting on Wednesday in Hyderabad.

Amazon
These apart, e-commerce major Amazon will shortly move into its new campus that is coming up near Waverock building in Nanakramguda. The structure, spanning 3 million sqft, will be ready in about two months. The work has been going on for two years now and it is now nearing completion. This is among the big office clusters for it in Asia, he said.

Amazon has already set up its Asia’s largest fulfillment centres near Hyderabad. Players like Flipkart and BigBasket have also set up their warehouses to stay competitive in a segment where shorter delivery schedules are key to customer retention, he said.

GMR to create pharma logistics value chain

Also aims to become the largest air cargo hub for marine products

GMR to create pharma logistics value chain Global Trade: GMR Hyderabad International Airport CEO interacting with an exhibitor at the Pharmerging Expo in Hyderabad on Tuesday.

Hyderabad: GMR Hyderabad International Airport is seeing growth opportunities in the areas of pharmaceutical and perishable shipments and is thus creating additional infrastructure for cargo handling, cold chain and smoother regulatory clearances. The company in the coming years plans to develop a full-fledged pharma logistics value chain at Hyderabad Airport. The existing capacity is also all set to get doubled. It will also create an exclusive ecosystem for perishable and express cargo.

World Health Organization’s Good Storage and Distribution Practices certified Hyderabad Airport’s Cargo terminal has been taking initiatives for effective handling of pharmaceutical cargo in order to meet the requirements of customers worldwide.

Speaking at the inaugural of Pharmerging Expo in Hyderabad on Tuesday, SGK Kishore, CEO, GMR Hyderabad International Airport said, “More than 60 per cent of cargo at Hyderabad Airport is pharma-centric. We are creating temperature controlled environment for pharma shipment. Partners are bringing new technology like vac q teck to maintain cold chain. We are seeing use of artificial intelligence and machine learning to manage cold chain. Blockchain is also being explored to make data available in real-time throughout the pharma cargo chain.”

He added, “Efforts what Government of Telangana is making towards the growth of pharma industry in the State is making this a very opportune moment for pharma business in Hyderabad.”

After pharma, GMR is focusing on perishables. A lot of opportunity exists for export of food and vegetables out of Hyderabad. Government of Telangana is encouraging farmers to produce export quality vegetable products. Hyderabad airport has a huge opportunity to come out as an Air Cargo hub for marine products.

“We are also working towards expanding the cargo capacity, bring in more air freight stations in the hinterland. Today, the hinterlands to Hyderabad are spanning to almost 6 to7 States-Chhattisgarh, Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh, Orissa, Andhra Pradesh, Northern Karnataka and Goa for unbroken cold chain from these places. We are also in touch with Customs to impart the ease of doing business. We are trying to make all the cargo operations paperless,” he added.

GMR has been working with Agility to bridge any gap on temperature control and fluctuations.

Advantage Hyderabad
Hyderabad is centrally located in India. There are almost 20 to 25 cities which are falling under the catchment of Hyderabad airport. And some of these cities are also pharma manufacturing cities.

Kishore said, “We have been trying to promote that all these cities can use Hyderabad as a hub- to bring their products into Hyderabad facility and then export. In the next few months we will be focusing more on the cargo related infrastructure development. The current terminal is almost handling 1,50,000 MT annually. We want to double this capacity. We have come out with a comprehensive Master Plan to ensure that the facility gets expanded and also all the forward linkages and backward linkages to be met. We will also develop landside Cargo Logistics Park. We are working on creating a facility where all the certifying agencies put their offices so that exporters and importers need not struggle for clearances.”

Pharmerging Expo
Hyderabad is hosting a tow-day Pharmerging Expo organised by Agility. The expo is providing a networking opportunity for the companies to showcase their pharma supply chain solutions. Kishore and Agility senior management took part in the expo.

The event saw participation of GMR Cargo, Emirates Sky Cargo, va-Q-tec, Dallas Fort Worth International Airport (DFW), Algor Logistics, SkyCell AG, Etihad Cargo, Qatar Airways Cargo, Controlant, Shipa Freight, Novotel Hyderabad Airport, Emball’iso and BATCO CFS. The exhibition also had stalls from airlines, shipping lines and airports. Representatives of 19 countries are participating in this expo.
