Global temperature rise puts Himalayan glaciers at risk of melting

A new study by the The International Centre for Integrated Mountain Development (ICIMOD) found that if the earth's temperature rises by two degrees, two-thirds of the Himalayas mountain region could melt putting around two billion people's lives at risk. The Hindu Kush Himalayan (HKH) region—spanning 8 countries including India, Nepal and China—is warming faster than the global average.
