Bharatiya Janata Party has issued a stern warning to Telugu Desam Party president and Andhra Pradesh chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu for calling upon the TDP leaders and cadre to stage protests during Prime Minister Narendra Modi's visit to state on Sunday.

Modi is going to address a public meeting in Guntur, which is his first visit to AP after TDP served ties with BJP last year.

Naidu told the party functionaries through a teleconference on Saturday that the protests should be organized in such a way that entire country should take note of it and know how the state was betrayed by the Centre.

The TDP has decided to stage a strong protest by observing as “Black Day” on Sunday.

Huge hoardings were put up all over Amaravati region with “Modi Go Back” slogans and at every vantage point, there are posters and black flags to protest the PM’s visit.

The TDP leaders are also making all out efforts to see that Modi’s rally will be a flop and they are even taking people from Guntur and Krishna districts to Polavaram project site so that they would not go to Modi rally.

Naturally, this has angered the BJP leadership.

“Naidu is scared of Modi’s popularity and he is afraid that the PM would expose his corrupt deeds. But he cannot stop the sunlight by covering sun with his palm,” State BJP president Kanna Lakshminarayana said.

BJP national spokesman and Rajya Sabha member G V L Narasimha Rao went a step further and threatened that the Centre would not hesitate to sack the Naidu government and impose President’s Rule in the state if the TDP created any hurdles in the PM visit.

Finally in the afternoon, the authorities have started removing the hoardings against Modi as a precautionary measure.
